Greetings,
Steve here, just found out about this forum yesterday from a friend.
I'm not new to Blinky-Flashy, but I'm new to this Forum.
I started out assisting with setting up displays at Hawerlak Park in Edmonton back in the 1999-2000 but had nothing of my own.
2002 I moved to Eastern Ontario and ran my own small displays at CFB Petawawa until 2005 without animation or audio.
2006 I relocated to Greenwood where I've slowly increased my display to the more conventional yard display we are familiar with.
I am very much a hands on DIY type.
My gear: Vixen 40x SSROz's 2x Ren64 2x Ren16 2x Grinch 2x Ren-T 2x Ren-C LED Triks with Triks-C Transmitting on 99.9FM
I've just returned from Deployment and currently scrambling to get my display up and running by with weekend.
Hope to run into a few of the "locals" soon and compare notes.
Cheers Steve "Aurbo"

Aurbo it was interesting to read you got to help with Canada's largest out door display "Bright Lights" or Bright Nights" at Hawerlak Park. Been there twice since it 1st opened and that is good for now.
I hope you share some of your ideas here on the forum as there are a bunch of eager folks on here wanting to learn more. |

Stopped by about 7:30 tonight.. the lights look terrific! Mega Tree in the backyard is huge!
If I was at the right house, the driveway appeared to invite people in to view the lights through to the back yard. this correct?
What electrical issues are you having?
Are your lights all set up as a static display or are they sync'ed to music?
Cheers Steve |

yeagh I think you had the right place, the lights areound the driveway was this years addition, with that exact point--to guide people to see the lights out back--glad u liked them. I consider my display static, but I do have a lights and sounds of christmas controller which is connected to about 3000 lights--really wanted to go computerized but for now it will do. the electrical issues was Gfi's tripping/blowing due to all the wettness--I think I have the prob. fixed for now. you mention that use Vixen--how many channels does that give you???

Looked good, I figured it was an invitation to walk the lane but without a sign indicating the invite I didnt want to presumptuous and start wandering around your displays.
Vixen is scalable to your needs. and its FREE.
We can discuss getting your show computerized if you want.
Depending on which controller your using and the guage of wire, your GFCI issue should be a relatively easy fix. We had similar weather last year and my display survived without a tripped circuit.
For your display as I saw it. You could do a wicked 64 channel setup and blow your entire sub-division away.
Its way too late in the season to switch but if your interested we are close enough for me to give you as much assistance as required to get the controller and ssr's built.
I have a few spare 16 and 64 channel controllers not in use this year I might be able to loan you to test the concept.

Well its 21 Dec.
Today was my drop and stop date to try to catch up with getting all my display out this year. 7 Months in the high Arctic tends to put a crimp in ones plans.
Its not 100%, more like 40%, but its running.
An invite to anyone in the Nova Scotia area, If your in the area of Greenwood tune to 99.9Fm and turn onto Argus behind McD's..
Go down 4 blocks to Beaver and take a right. you cant miss it, (I hope )
Its pretty sedate and low-key. I'm going to spend the day tomorrow tweaking the sequences while we get that extra 6-8" of Snow.
I'll add a few more items Tuesday after this storm passes.

I am going to try and post a few pictures of my place, i have almost 18000 lights up and it look not to bad. I get a few complantes from people saying they just get looking at one display then it is gone but overall most people like it.
