Hello John............glad to see a post.
Anyhow, I pulled more poles out of the ground late this after noon. I also put the last wood cutout in the garage and I managed to get to more extension cords from the thawing snow.
The yard it slowly loosing the Christmas decorations.

Yes and that was only 32 channels, but this year you have 112 channels, more lights, more extension cords, maybe arches, and a mega tree.
Perhaps it is a good thing are yards are not really big, otherwise more cords would be needed.
We have no promises that next will not even be colder, with lots more snow, and very long.
So in other words, unless you plan on a quick set up and take down, next take down maybe longer.
Maybe today I can shovel what snow is left and on bury the 32 cords that ran the 16 mini trees.

I managed to get a bunch of the extension cords from the yard, there are a few left. I tried pulling them out but they must be staked down so have to wait until some more snow melts.
I am thinking next year running the extension cords from the controllers through a big pvc pipe. Trying to figure how I could bury the pipe and still have access to the extension cords.
My controllers were at the side of the house. In 2010 they will be in the front close to the area they are controlling.
Going out today and try to put away a bunch more.

well got all the light off the holly tree and in the garage to dry so I can put them away The PVC idea is good to I was thinking about it last year and just run house wire through it to were it goese. this way yes you can barry it and not have to put it away every year Just on the wire at the front put a male plud and on the other end put a closed out door wall box. But I want to change the front yard first then put the wire underground to were I need it Not sure which is cheaper the cords or the wire with the PVC but not as much clean up lolol. I'll keep you guys informed on how I will do it and see if it works lolol

The PVC or conduit pipe idea is a good idea, I read on Planet Christmas where people have done that.
We need to bear in mind that it does snow here and so snow and melting snow can enter the pipe and cause the wires to be frozen in place, unless you can come up with a way to plug the entrances. I was thinking that we could use duct tape to cover the entrances.
I was also thinking that since it will be under ground and the ends would be capped when not in use, we could have threaded ends where we can have a screw on caps, but during the Christmas season we can add a screw on extension going up 2 ft or so with a 90% elbow.
Also that pipe extension with elbow can be transformed into a 6ft tree as a disguise.
Well we can come up with ideas over the next 7.5 months before setup again.

| I don't think it would be that hard I see alot of trees here in langley with plugs on the side of the tree I guess if you use the right wire and pvc and glue the ends you should be OK and Scott for your weather up there They also have pugs out side for when it gets cold at night for the cars I did plug in my truck at a few truck stoppes when spending the night But you will have to do it right the first time or yes you will have problems down the road And yes you can make it so you can cape it But you are going to use it when the cold weather is around I'm really thinking about doing this But I want to change my front yard first and hope I can do it this year But have to get things settled with the ex first LOLOLOL take care all |

If you did the pipe with connectors with the bottoms facing down to keep water out? Although moisture would likely still build up.

That is a possibility Longshadow. I personally do not need my pipe to go under ground, I could leave it above ground and run extension cords threw it.
I personally want to be able to take the cords out for a faster display take down.
Leaving a piece of PVC pipe out is O K with me, but 50 extensions is not a good thing.

I have to leave my arches and Candy Canes in the ground because of the re-bar that is frozen into the ground still. This year I am going to be painting my house and I talked the wife into getting a bucket truck to paint and hang my roof line lights better. (I get shaky at the top of my 30' ladder is I crawl on my steep roof)

That is neat getting a bucket truck. I could use that for my Mountain Ash Tree.......it would be a lot safer.
