I was going to have 96 channels this year.
For some reason I thought I only needed 3 more controllers so that is what I planned on buying during the sale.

Wife asked about prices and said I should buy 5 cuz it is like paying for 4 and getting the 5th one for free.

So I order 5 more controllers.

They sold out in something like 15 minutes.

Now adding up my channels I should 96 plus 2 more controllers is 128 channels
BUT I have 7 controllers 7 X 16 = 112 channels
Stupid medication just about cost me money!

So did anyone else get in on the LOR sale?

We didn't get anything this year. We are going to just operate with the one controller (16 channels) and maybe next year get another one.

Paul:

You might as well buy 4 more controllers in the summer sale and have 192 channels like me, or buy 5 more and have 208 channels and have the biggest display in this area.

All you need to do now is plan out your display for Christmas 2010.

As you may have noticed I passed this sale up.

I can't buy anymore, this year...
I spent way too much on lights and other decorations.
Plus remember more controllers = many more extension cords!
So I still have to spend more money.

You are right Paul. Now come the big buck for more cords. Oh well, like I said start planning your layout now because December 1st comes quick enough.

Oh I have it planned out.
Already have 3 songs sequenced
Started in the middle of Dec
Since my wife has seen the controllers in action she has a ton of ideas.
She has no idea how to make this happen.

I take it that your sequences are for 112 channels or 96 channels and one spare controller?

What songs did you sequence?

I am just about done my 1st sequence for this year "Do You Hear What I here" by Bobby Vinton

My wife likes that song.

I will rework my other sequences from last year and have them in the display as well. My display will not change much this Christmas. My yard is only so big and I can only do so much.

Ummm Well I started sequencing 96 channels with 9 channels as spares so I guess I am only using 87 channels right now.
The extra controller will be a spare or maybe a mega tree if I can work it into all of my sequences.
Next year it will be used for sure!
I have already spent over 2 months sequencing and don't want to start over.
The songs I will be using are:
1)Blue Christmas (using a lot of BLUE lights for this one)
2)Rudolph the red nose Reindeer
3)the Grasshoppers - Santa Claus Rudolph and Us
4)Here Comes Santa
5)And the one I am working on right now is I am Santa Clause

Am trying to have a theme this year as you can see!

I have to study for work stuff plus the meds I am on is making it difficult to be in front of the computer but a little each week and I should be fine for Nov.

How many channels does a mega tree need to be? I am thinking of setting up one and just dropping timing into my existing sequences.

I use 32 channel per tree 16 channels per colour, but a lot folks, actually most folks use 8 channel per colour and they use anywhere from 2 to 4 colours.........also a large number of folks like 12 channels per colour.

Go with 8 channels per colour. So 2 colours would be 16 channel total or 8 channels per colour.

I am thinking of doing that now and doing 24 channels 3 colours.

As for saving channels for spares, technically most of the big decorators in the states only use only 14 channel per controller and they leave two channels just in case a channel fry's.

So you could use all your controllers but leave at least 2 channel per controller free.

Perhaps this year or in 2011 I will only use 15 channels per controller and have 1 channel per controller as a spare.

It should not take me that long to touch up the 40 sequences from last year.

I am keeping my display basically the same except my 10ft trees may be Marty Fans this year. Like I said I want quick set up and take down.

That is how I feel, but even then I may not buy any more controllers. I can only do so much with my small front yard without it looking to cluttered.

I managed to get 2 pc complete solder together kits, I think I'm now up to 160 or 176 channels. I'll have to crack open the controller storage prior to the summer sale to verify, just in case I need another 1 or 2.

Now we both have 176 channels at the moment (not counting the spare controller), but you may buy more in the summer sale.........that will spice up your display even more.

The way things have been going for me these past 6 months and counting it looks like I will be at this amount for this Christmas as well but that is O K as I will change a couple of things in the display........but still be able use my sequences from last year too.

That is when you have to get creative with your yard, I think I have one of the smallest yards from what I can see. :)

I think my yard is 35ft wide by 22ft deep with an 8ft wide front deck (30ft in total). Take a lot at my last Christmas video and see how close it was to being over crowed.

Anyhow, being creative will cost me dollars, and since I have none, and I mean none, I will need to "adapt and overcome" with what I have from last Christmas.

It will look good that I promise.

Got my shipping notice on Friday, YAY. Only $57.00 shipping with USPS, hopefully they won't gouge to much for fees crossing the border.

Cheers

I bought 5 controllers, complete I just have to install the cords.
Shipping UPS Worldwide Expedited (3-4 Business delivery days) with
$ 500.00 insurance and tracking for $ 128.00.( The broker fee is
included and the taxes are extra).

At the most I should only have to pay for the GST!

Mary said it will shipped today.

Daryl - I've found that when its done by mail the other charges are minimal compared to a courier. Hopefully it'll work out!

Yup, that's the same experience that I've had. I try my best to deal with vendors that will ship USPS or try and have it sent to Seattle to friends of ours and then have them ship it.

Cheers

I had a complete controller and 5 complete boards and it cost $48.00 Canadian via USPS and I paid no GST and no Canada custom fee.

USPS is the way to go and if you type in the massage box on the Lor order page "could you please send it USPS and send it as a gift"......I get it in 6 or 7 days just like I got UPS for way less money.

Comes with a tracking number too. I admit that you get less insurance but I can live with that because Lor packs them good.

Also arrived today for you was more work on sequencing
Need more cords than you have now.
Need to build the things you want to put in the display.
More headaches
More time to set up and take down

.........but it is fun.

Already started the sequencing but it is difficult to do while I am on my meds and working.

Can only do one and working pays the bills.

I think I have enough extension cords (famous last words LOL) because I am buying a few rolls of the SPT wire and using PCV pipe.

Only 1, 2 , 3 .... 8 months left!
